The Marine Division of the Honourable East India Company originally published the chart in 1823. Lieutenants J. M. Guy & G. B. Brucks completed the original survey work prior to that date, and it was drawn by M: Houghton.
The chart shows fresh water wells and a ruined tower on the island. In the waters around the island the track of the vessel taking the hydrographical soundings can be clearly seen. True Meridian is shown. Within the Remarks, latitude is given as 25º 12’ 44” North, with a variation 4º 30’ West (these are taken from the south end of the island). A scale of 1 mile is provided on the chart. On a point of interest, the island is located at 25º 21’ 46”, 54º 24’ 87”.
