The Marine Division of the Honourable East India Company originally published the chart in 1823. Lieutenants J. M. Guy & G. B. Brucks completed the original survey work prior to that date, and it was drawn by M: Houghton.
The chart reveals
no signs of settlement such as fresh water wells or evidence of buildings. In
the waters around the island the track of the vessel taking the hydrographical
soundings can be clearly seen. This track is limited suggesting that the island
was of little interest and recorded, in passing, as part of the larger survey.
