Maps and Charts
New York, Long Island, Connecticut & New Jersey
The maps and charts in the New York collection were mainly drawn around 1776, at a time when the Revolutionary War was very much in the balance. Included here are maps detailing the struggle between George Washington and the British. We have also included here charts from the Anglo-American War of 1812-15 and other important 19th century charts.
This collection includes small scale charts showing the coastline of New York (including Long Island), New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and North Carolina, plus larger scale maps centered around New York harbour, the Hudson and the East River.
Specific areas covered by these old maps include: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Oyster Bay, Huntington Bay, Block Island, Gardners Island, Fisher Island, and New Jersey.
